SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Thank you for your interest in Dorsa Publishing. If you wish to submit a manuscript for our consideration, we ask that you first ensure that your book is a good fit with our publishing program. Please browse our website to learn more about the kinds of books we publish.
Dorsa is a publisher of children’s books with a special focus on multiculturalism and pluralism.
We are only accepting submissions from authors based in Canada at this time.

Your submission package must include the following:

A cover letter.
A one-page synopsis of the contents of your book (if you are submitting a novel).
For non-fiction, include a table of contents with a paragraph describing the content of each chapter.
A resume or CV that includes an outline of your past publishing experience.
A marketing plan for your book.
If your submission is a novel (over 10,000 words), please include at least three sample chapter, formatted with Times New Roman font (or a comparable font), 12-point type, double-spacing, and standard margins (1″-1.5″). For fiction, please submit the first three chapters. Please do not send a complete manuscript unless you are requested to do so. If your submission is a picture book, please supply the entire text.
A word count for the complete manuscript.

Important Notes:

We prefer to receive submissions electronically. However, if you wish to mail your submission, please use the address below.
Please do not send original artwork with your manuscript. Send only copies or scans.
Due to the high volume of submissions that we receive, we will only respond to those that are of interest for possible publication. A self-addressed, stamped envelope is unnecessary — all materials will simply be recycled, unless you are determined to get your materials back. In that case, it is essential that you include a SASE (this includes return postage). Your submission will not be returned without it.
If you have not heard from us within six months of submitting your manuscript, you can assume that it is not right for Dorsa.
We do our best to keep up with submissions, but your patience is appreciated in the case of delays. Please do not telephone to inquire about the status of your submission.
Editorial commentary and/or feedback will not be provided unless Dorsa decides to pursue your project.
